About the Trekking

Idyllic Trekking For Beginners or Experienced Riders

Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, a stones throw from the New Forest National Park, our treks set off into the vast Westmoors Plantation. With tracks that go on forever and stunning forest that homes a variety of deer and birds of prey, our forest rides really are stunning! We offer forest rides of 45 minutes and 1 hour. The 45 minute rides are suitable for beginners and children over 7 years old. The 1 hour rides are suitable for both beginners (even those that have never ridden!) or experienced riders and again children 7yrs+.

The parking is located onsite, come through the main gate and drive slowly down towards the right and park opposite the arena. The gate MUST be closed behind you! A voluntary donation of £1 per vehicle is appreciated and donated in full to Macmillan Cancer Research.

We can provide and help you to fit a riding hat free of charge! We have a large variety of sizes and even provide a sanitiser spray! We ask that all clients wear long trousers with sturdy and enclosed footwear. Hiking boots or wellingtons are fine (All of our stirrups have safety cages therefore any enclosed, sturdy footwear will be suitable). You are asked to arrive 30 minutes before your rides start time. Please wait at reception when you arrive and we will greet you and check you in. You will not be able to ride with a rucksack so be prepared to leave it in a car or in the office. All possessions left in the office are entirely at your own risk and the yard cannot accept liability for lost or broken items. Please do not bring dogs into the yard, even on a lead.

Eastmoors Riding School holds a 5 Star Rated Licence by Dorset Council. This means that our standards of Horse Welfare, Health & Safety Practices and Staff Qualifications and Experience have far exceeded the standards required!! Our horses quite literally want for nothing!

We are working hard to keep our clients and staff safe whilst still providing a fun and enjoyable experience. We have sanitiser stations located on the main gate as you enter, at the office before you handle the pens and clipboards and on all mounting blocks for you to use before you mount your horse. In addition to this all hats are sanitised between clients with Dettol. We actively encourage you to wear a mask whilst checking in and mounting and encourage to you bring gloves if possible (these are to be taken offsite with you and not disposed of in the carpark!!) If you or anyone you have been in contact with have covid symptoms, please call us to cancel/reschedule your ride. We ask that you wait in the outdoor check in area and do not wander around the yard or touch anything that is not essential. Please call us with enquiries or to book instead of popping into the yard. This helps us keep accurate records of who has been on the yard for the track and trace system.
We thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
